Bleeding Brake System
NOTE:
Use only DOT 4 grade brake fluid. Brake system bleeding unit must be used if system has been drained. Ensure brake fluid reservoir is filled to MAX level.
- Ensure ignition is off. Remove brake fluid reservoir cap. Fill reservoir. Press brake pedal a few times to remove air bubbles in master cylinder.NOTE: Brake pedal must be depressed several times between bleeding each brake caliper. Ensure there is always brake fluid in reservoir when bleeding brakes.
- Ensure ignition is off. Raise and support vehicle. Manually bleed system using foot method with an assistant. For bleeding order see BRAKELINE BLEEDING SEQUENCE table.BRAKELINE BLEEDING SEQUENCE
Application Sequence All Models LF, RF, LR, RR - Remove protective cap from left front bleed valve. Connect hose from collecting bottle to bleed valve. Open bleed valve. Push brake pedal down, hold for about 2 seconds, then release. Repeat this procedure 20-30 times until there are no visible air bubbles in fluid.
- Close bleed valve. Depress brake pedal several times. Open bleed valve, then close it when brake pedal is at bottom. Repeat this procedure 3-5 times. Remove hose and reinstall protective cap. Repeat procedure for remaining brakes.
- Ensure no air remains in system by depressing brake pedal firmly. With engine off and brake pedal depressed 3-4 times, pedal travel should not exceed 1.6" (40.64 MM). If pedal travel is longer than specification, bleed again and recheck pedal travel. Ensure brake fluid level is not over MAX mark.
