Interior Lighting Inoperable

  1. If interior lighting delay is inoperable, go to step 6). If interior lighting delay does not turn off, go to step 7). If interior lighting is inoperable, ensure ignition is off. Remove fuse No. 13 and interior lighting bulb. Replace as necessary. If fuse and bulb are okay, go to next step.
  2. Ensure ignition is off. Check if interior lighting can be turned on and off using switch on passenger compartment dome light. If interior lighting can be turned on and off, go to next step. If interior lighting cannot be turned on and off, check for open circuit in wiring between fuse No. 15 and dome light.
  3. Ensure ignition is off. Set dome light to come on when door opens. Remove central locking relay. Connect voltmeter between relay connector terminals LA and No. 31. See Figure . Voltmeter should read about zero volts. Connect jumper wire between relay connector terminals LA and No. 31. If interior lighting comes on, go to next step. If voltmeter reads more than one volt, check for short to voltage in interior lighting signal wire between central locking relay connector terminal LA and dome light. If interior lighting does not come on, check for short circuit in interior lighting signal wire between central locking relay connector terminal LA and dome light.
  4. Ensure ignition is off. Set dome light to come on when door opens. Remove central locking relay. Close door and trunk/tailgate. Connect jumper wire between relay connector terminals LA and "T". See Figure . If interior lighting comes on when any door is opened, check interior lighting ground wire for an open circuit. If interior lighting does not come on, go to next step.
  5. Ensure ignition is off. Reconnect central locking relay. Remove all door switches. Disconnect a door switch White/Black wire and connect it to ground. If interior light comes on, repair ground or replace door switch. If interior light does not come on, repair open circuit in White/Black wire.
  6. If interior lighting delay is inoperable, ensure ignition is off. Remove central locking relay. Connect voltmeter between relay connector terminals No. 15 and 31. If voltmeter reads zero volts, check interior lighting ground. If voltmeter does not read zero volts, check for short to voltage in wiring between fuse No. 11 and central locking relay connector terminal No. 15. See Figure .
  7. If interior lighting delay does not turn off, turn ignition off. Remove central locking relay. Turn ignition on. Connect voltmeter between relay connector terminals No. 15 and 31. See Figure . If voltmeter does not read battery voltage, go to next step. If voltmeter reads battery voltage, check interior lighting ground for an open circuit.
  8. Ensure ignition is off. Remove fuse No. 11. Replace as necessary. Turn ignition on. Check voltage supply to fuse No. 11. If voltage is present, check wiring between fuse terminal and central locking relay connector terminal No. 15 for an open circuit. If voltage is not present, check for open circuit in voltage supply to fuse No. 11.
