Central Locking System Switch Inoperable

  1. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect central locking switch from panel. Disconnect central locking switch electrical connector. See Fig 1 . Connect ohmmeter between connector terminal No. 4 and ground. If ohmmeter reads about zero ohms, go to next step. If ohmmeter does not read about zero ohms, check for open circuit in ground.

  2. Ensure ignition is off. Connect voltmeter between connector terminals No. 6 and 4. Voltmeter should read zero volts. Connect ohmmeter between terminals No. 6 and 4. See Fig 1 . Ohmmeter should read infinite resistance. If readings are correct, go to next step. If readings are not correct, check for short circuit in wiring between connector terminal No. 6 and central locking relay connector terminal ULS.
  3. Turn ignition off. Connect voltmeter between connector terminals No. 3 and 4. See Fig 1 . Voltmeter should read zero volts. Connect ohmmeter between connector terminals No. 3 and 4. Ohmmeter should read infinite resistance. If readings are correct, go to next step. If readings are not correct, check for short circuit in wiring between connector terminal No. 3 and central locking relay connector terminal LS. See Figure .
  4. Turn ignition off. Lock all doors. Connect jumper wire between connector terminals No. 4 and 6 for about one second. See Fig 1 . Central locking system should unlock. If central locking system operates, install new central locking switch. If central locking system does not operate, check for open circuit in wiring from central locking switch to central locking relay connector.
