Transient Surge Protector

  1. Disconnect ECU connector. See Figure and Figure . Turn ignition on. Connect DVOM between terminal No. 1 on ECU connector and ground. DVOM should read battery voltage. If battery voltage is not present, measure voltage on transient surge protector connector, located to right of ECU (under dash) above converter.
  2. Terminals No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 should have voltage present. Check for continuity between terminal No. 3 and ground. If only terminals No. 1 and No. 4 have voltage when terminal No. 3 is grounded, replace defective transient surge protector.
