Transient Surge Protector

  1. Turn ignition on. Connect a DVOM between terminal No. 1 on ECU connector and ground. DVOM should read 12 volts. If voltage is not present, measure voltage on transient surge protector connector.
  2. Transient surge protector is located to right of ECU (under dash) above converter. Terminals No. 1, 2 and 4 should have voltage present. Check for continuity between terminal No. 3 and ground. If only terminals No. 1 and 4 have voltage when terminal No. 3 is grounded, replace defective transient surge protector.
