ISSUE & TIP
For all the techs who have cursed through a Volvo 240 model blower fan replacement, do yourself a favor and take the following words of advice:
- Remove the steering wheel. You'll spend several hours crammed up under the driver's side of the dash and it's nice to have the wheel out of the way.
- OEM replacement blower fans require extensive modification, milling, and grinding of the heater case. A good die grinder and a selection of both pointed and flat bits is a must.
- While grinding, position an assistant on the opposite side of the heater with the shop vac to remove the plastic debris. You'll avoid getting a face full of plastic when the fan is turned on for the first time.
