Case Assembly - Conventional

  1. Remove side bearings with Puller (2483), taking care not to damage shims. Mark left and right bearings and shims for reassembly in correct position. Hold case assembly securely and remove lock plate over ring gear bolts.
  2. Index ring gear to differential case for reassembly. Loosen bolts holding ring gear to case. Tap bolts to push ring gear from case. Discard old bolts. Drive out lock pin holding differential gear shaft.
  3. Drive out differential gear shaft. Remove differential pinion gears by rolling them out of case. Remove pinion gear shims. Lift out differential side gears with shims.
