LOWER CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS INSTALLATION

YEAR(S): All Years

MANUFACTURER: Volvo

MODEL(S): 240 Series

ISSUE & TIP

When installing rear lower control arm bushings on all 240 series Volvos, we have found that a wheel bearing socket for most American 4X4s fits the new bushings perfectly and can be used to press the bushings into place if the factory tools are not available.

We use a Snap-on socket, part number 58695B. We remove and install the control arm to service the bushings. The four protruding tips on the socket align with the new bushing surface and will not damage the bushings in any way during installation. Most technicians I have met own some equivalent of this tool.
