Planetary Gear Assembly: Disassembly
- Separate front planetary gear set, one-way clutch, and No. 3 brake discs from output shaft assembly. Invert shaft assembly so that assembly is resting on output shaft. Compress snap ring. Remove front planetary ring gear.
- Pull intermediate shaft and rear planetary gear set from output shaft housing. Remove bearing and race from output shaft housing. Remove plastic and steel thrust washers from intermediate shaft. Pull rear planetary gear set from rear ring gear.
- Remove bearing and race. Remove snap ring. Slide rear ring gear from intermediate shaft. Remove rear bearing race. Remove seal rings from output shaft. Remove steel thrust plate from front planetary gear set.
- Remove No. 3 brake discs and plates from around planetary gear set. Remove one-way clutch inner hub from front planetary gear set. Remove snap ring from one-way clutch. Remove both bearing cages, one-way clutch and plastic ring from gear set.
