Selector Lever Cable, Checking And Adjusting: Notes

Adjust the cable if:

• The cable was removed,
• The selector mechanism was removed and installed,
• The engine and/or transmission were removed and installed.

Vehicles with diesel engines

-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to the appropriate service information .

Continuation for all vehicles

Vehicles with Gasoline Engine

-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Continuation for all vehicles

-- Put the transmission in the "P" position.

Pay attention to the information in the overview - selector mechanism. Refer to OVERVIEW - SELECTOR MECHANISM, SHIFT BY WIRE, SELECTOR LEVER IN CENTER CONSOLE , or OVERVIEW - SELECTOR MECHANISM, SHIFT BY WIRE, SELECTOR LEVER ON STEERING COLUMN , or OVERVIEW - SHIFT MECHANISM, GEARSHIFT KNOB  .

-- Slide the wheel -2- in -direction of the arrow A- and lock it in -direction of the arrow B-.

Cable retainer -1- is released from the cable -3-.

-- Press the selector lever in -direction of the arrow- and lock at the stop -P-.

-- To check, turn both front wheels in the same direction at the same time, until the parking lock engages audibly.

The parking lock is engaged when it is not possible to rotate both front wheels in the same direction at the same time.

-- Turn the wheel -2- in the -direction of the arrow A- and release the tension on the spring in -direction of the arrow B-.

The cable -3- is adjusted.
