Selector Lever Cable, Checking And Adjusting: Notes

Adjust the cable if:

Vehicles with diesel engines

-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to the appropriate service information .

Continuation for all vehicles

Vehicles with Gasoline Engine

-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Continuation for all vehicles

-- Put the selector mechanism in the "P" position.

-- Loosen the bolt -2-.

-- Make sure that the selector lever is engaged in "P" position.

-- To check, turn both front wheels in the same direction at the same time, until the parking lock engages audibly.

The parking lock is engaged when it is not possible to rotate both front wheels in the same direction at the same time.

-- Slightly move the selector lever handle to the front and back, while not leaving the "P" position.

-- Tighten the bolt -2-.

The cable -3- is adjusted.

Cable, Checking Adjustment

-- Press the button and move the selector lever to the rear approximately 5 mm out of "P" and hold it there. Do not move it into "R".

-- Release the selector lever.

The selector lever must jump back into "P" by itself.

-- Move the selector lever into "N".

-- Press the button and move the selector lever to the rear approximately 5 mm out of "N" and hold it there. Do not move it into "D/S".

-- Release the selector lever.

The selector lever must jump back into "N" by itself.

-- Press the button and move the selector lever forward approximately 5 mm out of "N" and hold it there. Do not move it into "R".

-- Release the selector lever.

The selector lever must jump back into "N" by itself.

Vehicles with diesel engines

-- Install the air filter housing. Refer to the appropriate service information .

-- Install the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
