Multifunction Transmission Range Switch -F125-, Installing
Install in reverse order of removal while noting the following:
-- Attach the multifunction transmission range switch -4- to the selector shaft -6-.
-- Install the bolts -5- for the Multifunction Transmission Range Switch hand-tight.
-- Bend back the hooks on the lock washer -2-.
-- Mount the washer -3- on the selector shaft -6-.
-- Install the washer -2- with the hooks facing up.
-- Install the washer -2- with the long narrow guides into the long narrow recesses in the selector shaft -6-.
-- Tighten the nut -1- to the tightening specification.
-- Secure the nut -1- on the lock washer -2- by bending the hooks upward.
Replace the lock washer if one or several of the hooks break off when bent.
Before installing the selector lever on the selector shaft, adjust the Multifunction Transmission Range Switch -F125-. Refer to MULTIFUNCTION TRANSMISSION RANGE SWITCH, ADJUSTING .
-- Attach the selector lever -3- to the selector shaft -4-.
-- Shift the transmission into "P" with the selector lever -3-. This means pushing the selector lever -3- in the opposite direction of travel all the way toward the rear.
-- Then use the selector lever -3- to move the transmission into the "N" position. Push the gearshift lever -3- two positions forward in the direction of travel.
-- Mount the spring washer -2- and the nut -1- on the selector shaft -4-.
-- Tighten the nut -1- to the tightening specification.
-- Adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, CHECKING AND ADJUSTING .
-- Check the selector mechanism. Refer to SHIFT MECHANISM, CHECKING .
-- Install the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING 2.0L or AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING 3.6L .
