Power Steering Pump Delivery Pressure, Checking: Procedure
-- Disconnect the intake hose from the reservoir.
- :3094
-- Remove the nuts -arrows- from the return line.
-- Remove the nut -1- and the pressure line from the power steering pump.
-- Mount the :VAG1402 and the adapters as illustrated.

- :VAG1402/6
- Pressure Line
- :VAG1402/2
- Power Steering Pump
- :VAG1402/1A
-- Remove the :3094 from the intake hose.
- :3094
Make sure the lever on the pressure gauge is in position -1-.
-- Start engine and fill hydraulic fluid in reservoir if necessary.
-- Turn the steering wheel approximately 10 times from stop to stop.
-- Check the delivery pressure.
Test Prerequisites
- Ribbed belt/ribbed belt tension OK
- Sealing of system
- Hoses/lines are not kinked or constricted
-- Move the shut-off valve lever on the pressure gauge to -2- and read the pressure.
Let the engine run in idle and close the shut-off valve on the pressure gauge for not longer than 5 seconds (position -2-).
Specification For Delivery Pressure
96 to 104 bar (1392 to 1508 psi)
-- If specified value is not obtained, replace power steering pump. Refer to POWER STEERING PUMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, 5-CYLINDER GASOLINE ENGINE .
-- Remove the pressure gauge and adapter.
-- Bleed steering system. Refer to STEERING, BLEEDING AFTER REPLACING .
-- Check hydraulic fluid level and fill, if necessary. Refer to POWER STEERING FLUID LEVEL, CHECKING .
-- Check the steering system for leaks. Refer to STEERING, CHECKING FOR LEAKS .
