Steering Gear And SUBFRAME Component Overview
CAUTION:
If the universal joint is separated from the steering gear, the following work cannot be performed:
- Connect the battery.
- Turn on the ignition.
- Turning the steering gear.
- Turning the steering column.
These points must be observed, because otherwise it can cause irreparable damage.
- Universal Joint
- Bolt
- 20 Nm + 90°
- Always replace if removed.
- M8 x 35
- Steering Gear
- With the power steering control module.
- With the electromechanical power steering motor.
- With steering torque sensor.
- Can be checked in Guided Fault Finding using the vehicle diagnostic tester.
- Removing and installing, refer to STEERING GEAR .NOTE:
Correct any faults stored in the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory before replacing the steering gear, refer to the vehicle diagnostic tester.
- Wheel Bearing Housing
- Nut
- Tighten to 100 Nm, then loosen 180° (1/2) turn and tighten to 100 Nm again.
- Always replace if removed.
- Self-locking
- M12 x 1.5
- Subframe
- Bolt
- 50 Nm + an additional 90° (1/4) turn.
- Always replace if removed.
- M10 x 70
- Heat Shield
- TORX® Bolt
- 6 Nm
- Self-tapping
- Electrical Wire
