Test Procedure

-- Perform a preliminary check to verify the customers complaint. Refer to PRELIMINARY CHECK 

Start diagnosis

Make sure the engine is at room temperature.

-- Disconnect the Malfunctioning Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor -- - 5, 1, 2, 4- harness connector. Refer to the service information for removal and installation procedures.

-- Measure the resistance of the 2 terminals of the Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor -- connector(s).

Specified value: 215 Ω (+/- 25 Ω).

If the specified value was not obtained:

-- Replace the Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor --. Refer to the Repair Information.

-- Go to Final Procedures 

If the specified value was obtained:

-- Remove the Engine Control Module -J623-. Refer to the Repair Information.

-- Using a multimeter, Check the Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor -- electrical harness connector terminals to the Engine Control Module -J623- electrical harness connector T60 or T94 connector for resistance.

2 T94 / 34

Specified value: 1.5 ΩMax.

If any of the specified values were Not obtained:

-- Check the wires for a short circuit to each other, a short to battery voltage, or a short to ground.

-- Check the electrical harness connector for damage, corrosion, loose or broken terminals.

-- Repair as necessary.

If the specified value was obtained:

If no malfunction is detected in electrical circuit:

-- Replace the Engine Control Module -J623-. Refer to the Repair Information for removal and installation procedures.
