NOTE:
The term "Common Rail" refers to a "shared" fuel high pressure reservoir (rail element) for all fuel injectors in a cylinder bank. The pressure generation and fuel injection processes are separated from each other in this system: a separate high pressure pump generates the high pressure necessary for injection. It is stored in a high pressure reservoir (rail element) and provided to the fuel injectors through short injection lines.
