Checking activation
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 14 other vehicles, including the 2005 Volkswagen GTI, 2004 Volkswagen R32, 2004 Volkswagen Jetta, 2004 Volkswagen GTI, and 2003 Volkswagen Jetta. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING:
Do not touch ignition coil connecting parts or adapter cables during the following test.
- Remove fuse 32 from fuse holder.
NOTE:
By removing fuse 32, voltage supply to the fuel injectors is interrupted.
- Using adapter cables, connect voltage tester (V.A.G 1527) to
Terminals 5 + 2 (ignition output 1),
Terminals 5 + 3 (ignition output 3),
Terminals 5 + 4 (ignition output 2), of disconnected connector.
- Operate starter and test ignition signal from Engine Control Module (ECM).
LED should flicker.
- Switch ignition off.
If LED flickers and voltage supply is OK:
- Replace Ignition Coil -N152-. Refer to Parts of the ignition (vehicles with engine code AFP), removing and installing , item 7
- Erase DTC memory of Engine Control Module (ECM). Refer to Diagnostic mode 4: Reset/erase diagnostic data
- Generate readiness code. Refer to Readiness code, generating
If LED does not flicker:
- Check wires to Engine Control Module (ECM) according to wiring diagram. Refer to Checking wires to Engine Control Module (ECM) .
