Disassembling Planetary Transmission
Transmission is attached to transmission support device 3336.
Place container under the transmission.
Remove sealing plug -1- and ATF overflow pipe -2-. See Fig 1 . Drain ATF.
Seal ATF cooler connections.
Take out torque converter.
Secure transmission to assembly support with bolts -1- and -2- (M10). See Fig 2 .
Remove transmission support device 3336.
Remove transmission housing cover with gasket (arrows). See Fig 3 .
Remove sump. Remove ATF screen.
Remove valve body with conductor strip. See VALVE BODY, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Take out sealing plugs for -B1-. See Fig 4 .
Remove ATF pump bolts (arrows). See Fig 5 .
Screw bolts -A- (M8) into the tapped holes of ATF pump. See Fig 6 .
Press ATF pump off transmission by turning the bolts -A- evenly.
Remove strainer if installed. See Fig 7 .
The strainer is installed in the ATF cooler pipe.
Take out all clutches with supporting tube, -B2- plates, springs and spring caps together. See Fig 8 .
On some transmissions the clutches -K1- and -K3- may be pressed together. Clutch -K1- must only be pressed off -K3- if one of the clutches is to be disassembled or replaced. See Pressing Clutch -K1- Off -K3- .
Engage parking lock.
Insert screwdriver through hole of large sun gear to loosen and tighten bolt for small input shaft. See Fig 9 .
Loosen small input shaft bolt -arrow-. See Fig 10 .
Remove small input shaft bolt, washer and shim. Planet carrier axial needle bearing remains in transmission/input gear. Pull out small input shaft.
Pull out large input shaft (arrow). See Fig 11 .
Pull out large sun gear (arrow). See Fig 12 .
Remove transmission vehicle speed sensor (VSS) -G38-. See DIAGNOSIS - 01P article.
Remove supporting tube circlip -a- and freewheel circlip -b-. See Fig 13 . Take freewheel out of transmission housing by pulling on freewheel retaining wedge -arrow- with pliers.
Pull out planet carrier with dished spring. See Fig 14 .
Remove reverse gear brake -B1- plates.
