Idle Speed

  1. Warm engine to normal operating temperature (oil temperature of 122-158°F or 50-70°C). Place engine RPM sensor (VWAG 1324) on valve cover. Connect sensor cables to battery. Attach positive lead of tachometer to sensor and negative lead to ground.
  2. Check idle speed and adjust if necessary. To adjust, loosen lock nut and turn screw in to raise idle speed, or out to lower idle speed. Retighten lock nut and seal with paint.
