ISSUE & TIP
A defective fuel pump relay may cause a no-start or stalling after starting on 1985-86 Volkswagen Golfs.
To check the relay, take it apart and inspect the printed circuit solder joints. These joints can melt, causing an intermittent or open circuit. Save yourself some grief by checking the relay first if you're diagnosing a vehicle with these symptoms.
