Steering Gear Boot Removal And Installation/Replacement

Removal Procedure:
The procedure for the left-hand component is identical to that for the right-hand side.
- Remove front wheel. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
- Make sure that the wheels are pointed directly forward.
- Loosen the steering tie rod locknut (1).
- Use a wrench to unscrew the inner tie rod (1) completely.
- Separate inner tie rod (1) from outer tie rod (2).
- Remove nut (1).
- Remove the clamp (2) and the steel band clamp (3).
- Guide out the steering gear boot (1) from the inner tie rod and from the steering gear and remove.
Installation Procedure:
- Push the steering gear boot (1) onto the steering gear (2).
- Position the clamp (1) and the steel band clamp (2) as shown and fasten with suitable pliers.
- Connect the inner tie rod (1) with outer tie rod (2).
- Use a wrench to turn the inner tie rod (1) to adjust the toe to the specified value. Refer to WHEEL ALIGNMENT MEASUREMENT AND SPECIFICATIONS
- Tighten the tie rod lock nut (1).
Torque: 65 Nm
- Install front wheel. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
