Steering Column Upper And Lower Trim Cover Removal And Installation/Replacement

WARNING:

Failure to follow specified procedures may result in death or serious injury due to improper handling of airbags possible.
- Only appropriately trained persons may carry out work on pyrotechnic components or the Airbag Control Unit.
- Perform SRS disabling procedure prior to commencing work
- When replacing components of the SRS system, never install used or non-genuine components
- Pyrotechnic Components must be handled and scrapped appropriately
Removal Procedure:
Adjust the steering column to the maximum length and to the lowest steering column position.
- Remove steering wheel. Refer to STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
- Unlock the steering column upper trim cover (1) with a suitable plastic wedge as indicated (2).
- Release the harness off the bracket (1).
- Unlock and disconnect 2 electrical connectors (2).
- Fold the steering column lower trim cover (1) in arrow direction and remove it.
Replacement Procedure:
- Rebuild driver monitoring camera. Refer to DRIVER MONITORING CAMERA REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
Installation Procedure:
- Installation is the reverse of removal procedure, noting the following.
- Install steering wheel. Refer to STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
