Front Bumper Impact Bar Removal And Installation/Replacement

Mobile Repair Possible:  No

Removal Procedure: 

1. Remove both front bumper side energy absorbers. Refer to FRONT BUMPER SIDE ENERGY ABSORBERS REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT 
2. Remove air scoop mounting bracket. Refer to AIR SCOOP MOUNTING BRACKET REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT 
3. Remove both Headlamps. Refer to HEADLAMP REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
4. Remove coolant expansion tank. Refer to COOLING SYSTEM EXPANSION TANK REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
5. Remove the active air shutters. Refer to ACTIVE AIR SHUTTER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT

6. Remove 10 bolts (1).

   Torque: 15.3 Nm 

7. Remove 2 bolts (2)

   Torque: 5 Nm

8. Remove 2 bolts (1).

   Torque: 15 Nm

9. Remove the 2 bolts on both sides of the vehicle.

   Torque: 8 Nm

10. Remove 4 bolts (1).

    Torque: 56 Nm

11. Disconnect the electrical plug connections (1) on the left and right.
12. Detach the cable clip (2) from the side member.

13. Unlock and disconnect the electrical connector (1).
14. Remove 2 bolts (2).

    Torque: 74.5 Nm

15. Unlock and disconnect the electrical connector (1).
16. Remove 2 bolts (2).

    Torque: 74.5 Nm

17. Remove the front impact bar and FEM side uprights (1) from the vehicle in the direction of the arrow.

Replacement Procedure:

1. Rebuild both crash sensors (1).

   Torque: 9 Nm 

2. Detach the cable clip (2) from the side member.

3. Rebuild front bumper fascia energy absorber. Refer to FRONT BUMPER FASCIA ENERGY ABSORBER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT 
4. Rebuild the front bumper fascia Z-support. Refer to FRONT BUMPER FASCIA Z-SUPPORT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
5. Rebuild FEM side upright (1). Refer to FEM SIDE UPRIGHT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
6. Remove 2 bolts (2).

   Torque: 8 Nm 

7. Rebuild signal horns (3).
8. Rebuild front crash support bracket. Refer to FRONT CRASH SUPPORT BRACKET REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT

Installation Procedure: 

1. Installation is the reverse of removal procedure, noting the following.

   All fasteners must be tightened to torque specification! 

2. Install air scoop mounting bracket. Refer to AIR SCOOP MOUNTING BRACKET REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT 
3. Installe the active air shutters. Refer to ACTIVE AIR SHUTTER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
4. Install coolant expansion tank. Refer to COOLING SYSTEM EXPANSION TANK REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
5. Install both Headlamps. Refer to HEADLAMP REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
6. Install both front bumper side energy absorbers. Refer to FRONT BUMPER SIDE ENERGY ABSORBERS REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
