Lane Departure Warning

The Lane Departure Warning (LDW) is a driver assistance system that issues a visual warning icon, a warning sound or haptic steering wheel feedback by vibrating the steering wheel to warn drivers when their vehicle unintentionally drifts towards the lane lines. As a non-autonomous system, this feature does not actively intervene in the dynamic driving task.

The camera recognizes the lane marking and road edges and estimates the position of the vehicle within lane. The LDW system then uses this information to provide a visual/audible/haptic warning to the driver in case of unintentional lane departure.

When the Lane Departure Warning is activated, the system's working speed range is from 60-150 kph.

The system is disabled when one of the following conditions are met:

When the Lane Departure Warning (LDW) is activated, ADAS receives information on the following:

The camera provides information on the lane markings and the position of the vehicle within the lane. If the ADAS detects the vehicle approaching one of the lane markings, the color of the lane limit changes to red, and at the same time a command for a haptic warning is issued to the electrical power steering. The system issues a warning message via the multimedia head unit (MHU).
