Steering Gear Removal And Installation/Replacement

Mobile Repair Possible:  No

Removal Procedure: 

1. Remove front sub frame/engine cradle. Refer to FRONT SUB FRAME/ENGINE CRADLE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT

2. Remove 3 nuts (1).

   Torque: 185 Nm 

3. Remove 3 washers (2).
4. Remove 3 bolts (3).

5. Swing the anti roll bar (1) in direction of the arrow.
6. Remove the steering gear (2).

Replacement Procedure: 

1. Rebuild both Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod. Refer to STEERING LINKAGE OUTER TIE ROD INSPECTION AND REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT (INCLUDING KNUCKLE INSERT) 

Installation Procedure: 

1. Installation is the reverse of removal procedure, noting the following.

   All fasteners must be tightened to torque specification! 

2. Install front sub frame/engine cradle. Refer to FRONT SUB FRAME/ENGINE CRADLE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
3. Perform wheel alignment adjustment the front axle. Refer to WHEEL ALIGNMENT ADJUSTMENT - FRONT AXLE
4. Diagnostics, Programming and Setup. Refer to DIAGNOSTICS, PROGRAMMING AND SETUP USING SCAN TOOL IN SERVICE
