- Only appropriately trained persons may carry out work on pyrotechnic components or the Airbag Control Unit.
- Perform SRS disabling procedure prior to commencing work.
- When replacing components of the SRS system, never install used or non-genuine components.
- Pyrotechnic Components must be handled and scrapped appropriately.
Removal Procedure:
The procedure for the left-hand component is identical to that for the right-hand side.
- There is potential for inadvertent deployment of SRS systems during repairs if the system has not been properly disabled. Refer to SRS DISABLING AND ENABLINGNOTE: Ensure the 2-minute wait time has been observed before proceeding to next step.
- Disconnect the 12V battery negative terminal. Refer to 12V BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION
- Remove B-pillar lower trim panel. Refer to B-PILLAR LOWER TRIM PANEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
- Unlock and disconnect electrical connector (1).
- Remove and discard the torque prevailing bolt (1).
Replace with new only.
Torque: 45 Nm
- Remove the belt guide (2).
- Remove and discard the torque prevailing bolt (1).
Replace with new only.
Torque: 45 Nm
- Remove and discard the torque prevailing bolt (1).
Replace with new only.
Torque: 8 Nm
- Unhook the seat belt (2) from the indicated area (3) and remove it. Proper care must be taken when handling and disposing of SRS components. Refer to PRETENSIONER HANDLING AND SCRAPPING
Installation Procedure:

- Fasteners highlighted as torque prevailing must be discarded and not re-used
- Replace with new bolts only.
- Installation is the reverse of removal procedure, noting the following.
All fasteners must be tightened to torque specification!
- Install B-pillar lower trim panel. Refer to B-PILLAR LOWER TRIM PANEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
- Reconnect the 12V battery negative terminal. Refer to 12V BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION
