12V Battery And Power Outlets Description And Function
12 V Battery and Power Outlet Components:
Technical Description:
12V Battery
The 12V battery is located in the back of the front trunk compartment, on the passenger side and behind the front trunk tub. It is accessible for inspection by a service flap.
The low voltage electrical system works with an operating voltage of 12 volts.
The 12V battery is used to power the high voltage battery relays. This allows safe disconnection of the high voltage system for servicing or in the event of an accident.
The 12V system also powers the vehicle's communication network and most of the non-drive related electrical vehicle functions.
The battery has a capacity of 5 Ah and is charged by the high voltage system via the DC/DC converter of the 3-in-1 module. The negative battery terminal is equipped with the 12V battery sensor (BAS), which monitors the battery voltage and SOH. The pre-fuse box for high current fuses is attached to the positive terminal.
When the battery is charged, the open circuit voltage is generally between 12.5-13.8V. If the voltage is under 9.6V when tested, the battery needs to be replaced. If the voltage is below 12.4V, the battery should be charged. Use a multimeter to measure the internal resistance of the battery: normally it should be about 7.5mΩ.
USB Ports
The vehicle is equipped with five USB ports:
Two USB Type-A ports are located under the infotainment touch screen in the center console. The port on the driver's side can be used to transfer data (i.e. play music, connect Android Auto & CarPlay) and charge devices, the port on the front passenger side can be used only for charging (capable of fast charging).
Three USB ports are located in the rear of the center console below the A/C vents. The two on each side are USB Type-A and one in the center is USB Type-C. The two USB Type-A ports (capable of fast charging) are for charging devices, and the single USB Type-C port (90 W PD) is for charging as well.
Power Outlet
The vehicle is equipped with a power outlet located on the right-hand side of the rear luggage compartment. To access the low voltage outlet, remove the protective cap. The power outlet is suitable for accessories requiring up to 12V (120 W) max.
Wireless Charger
The wireless charger provided in the front console of the vehicle can charge Qi compatible devices wirelessly, providing an output of up to 15W. To charge a Qi compatible device, place the device on the charging pad, which will start charging the device.
The wireless charger can be set to "On/Off" depending on the user's requirements. The charger is equipped with LIN, which enables it to show charging status and phone messages in the infotainment touchscreen. It also reminds the user if the phone is left behind in the car (phone forget reminder).
