Current Component DTC's identify and repair
After addressing any Programming/SW faults, review the DTC's recorded in the diagnostic report created earlier and comparing to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) LIST - ALL VEHICLE FAULTS look for current DTC's of category "Component" to identify any current component related DTC's. These faults maybe from input and output circuits on the ECU, failed sensors or ECU controlled actuators, when a component DTC has been set it then potentially will also trigger a system DTC as the system can no longer operate properly.
Correcting a component fault may now allow a system to operate properly and any following system level DTC will transition to history.
Make sure to follow the DTC Repair Instruction provided for any of these DTC's.
Examples of Component DTCs
- C1308-38 Power Steering Motor Position Sensor Failure
- C0031-49 Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor - Internal Electronic Failure
- P0120-01 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor "A" - General Electrical Failure
