1974-79 (Ported EGR Valve)

- Check vacuum hose for correct routing. Disconnect vacuum hose from base of carburetor. Connect a hand-held vacuum pump to hose. With engine at idle, apply vacuum to EGR valve. If vacuum holds and idle becomes unstable or engine stalls, EGR valve is functioning properly.
- With engine at normal operating temperature, connect a vacuum gauge to EGR hose. Increase engine speed to about 2500 RPM. If vacuum is present, system is functioning properly.
