INTRODUCTION
On 2020 - 2021 model year Tacoma TRD Pro and TRD Off-road (4WD) vehicles equipped with Crawl Control, the Crawl Control feature may exhibit reduced functionality under some conditions. Customers may experience normal functionality on a flat or mildly inclined and smooth slope. However, the Crawl Control feature could deactivate when the system detects high torque demand seen in more traditional off-road scenarios such as a steep incline or difficult terrain. In this scenario the feature will hold the vehicle stationary for 5 - 10 seconds, then simultaneously deactivate and display the message "Crawl has been disengaged" on the MID (Multi-Information Display).
The Engine Control Module (ECM) (SAE term: Powertrain Control Module/PCM) logic has been modified to remedy this condition. Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to address this condition.
