Adjustment [08/2016 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT TIRE 

    Refer to INSPECTION [08/2015 - ]

  2. MEASURE VEHICLE HEIGHT 
    NOTE:

    Before inspecting the wheel alignment, adjust the vehicle height to the specification.

      *A for Front Side
      *B for Rear Side

      Press down on the vehicle several times to stabilize the suspension, and then measure the vehicle height.

      Measuring points

      Ground clearance of the front drive shaft center

      Ground clearance of the front adjusting cam bolt center

      Ground clearance of the rear axle shaft center

      Ground clearance of the rear lower control arm front side center

      Standard Vehicle Height (Unloaded Vehicle)

      Front A - B Rear C - D
      83.3 mm (3.28 in.) 80.8 mm (3.18 in.)

      If the vehicle height is not as specified, adjust the height by pressing down on the vehicle several times to stabilize the suspension.

      NOTE:

      The standard value shown here is a value that is used for adjusting the wheel alignment and does not indicate the height of an actual vehicle.

  3. INSPECT CAMBER, CASTER AND STEERING AXIS INCLINATION 
    1. Install a camber-caster-kingpin gauge or place the front wheels on the center of a wheel alignment tester.

    2. Inspect the camber, caster and steering axis inclination.

      Standard Camber Inclination (Unloaded Vehicle)

      Camber Inclination Right-left error
      0°24' +/-45' (0.40° +/-0.75°) 45' (0.75°) or less

      Standard Caster Inclination (Unloaded Vehicle)

      Caster Inclination Right-left error
      3°01' +/-45' (3.01° +/-0.75°) 45' (0.75°) or less

      Standard Steering Axis Inclination (Unloaded Vehicle)

      Steering Axis Inclination: Reference
      12°35' +/-45' (12.58° +/-0.75°)

      HINT: 

      The steering axis inclination is a reference value.

  4. ADJUST CAMBER AND CASTER 

    HINT: 

    After the camber has been adjusted, inspect the toe-in.

    1. Loosen the front adjusting cam bolt and rear adjusting cam nut.
    2. Turn the front adjusting cam and rear adjusting cam in both directions, and adjust the camber and caster to the center value.

      HINT: 

      • The camber and caster should be as close as possible to the center value.
      • Adjust the camber and caster within +/- 30'.

      Read the adjustment chart (example).

      1. Find the wheel alignment standard value applicable for the particular model.
      2. Mark the selected standard value on the adjustment chart.

        Standard Value (Reference)

        Camber Caster
        0°00' (0.00°) 4°00' (4.00°)
      3. Mark the alignment value measured when the vehicle is unloaded on the adjustment chart.

        Measured Value (Reference)

        Camber Caster
        0°11' (0.18°) 4°38' (4.63°)
      4. As shown in the chart, read the distance from the marked point to 0, and adjust the front and/ or rear adjusting cams accordingly.

        Amount to Turn Adjusting Cams (by Gradation)

  5. INSPECT TOE-IN 
    1. Bounce the vehicle up and down at the corners to stabilize the suspension and inspect the toe-in.

      Front of the Vehicle

      Standard Toe-in (Unloaded Vehicle)

      Toe-in (total)
      A + B C - D
      0°13' +/-10'
      (0.22° +/-0.17°)
      3.0 +/- 2.0 mm (0.118 +/- 0.079 in.)

      If the toe-in is not as specified, adjust it at the rack ends.

  6. ADJUST TOE-IN 
    1. Release the rack boot set clips.
    2. Loosen the tie rod end lock nuts.
    3. Turn the right and left rack ends by an equal amount to adjust the toe-in to the center value.

      *a Length
      Tie Rod End Lock Nut

      Check that the length of the right and left rack ends are approximately the same.

      Standard difference

      1.5 mm (0.0591 in.) or less

    5. Tighten the tie rod end lock nuts.

      Torque: 82 N*m (836 kgf*cm, 60 ft.*lbf) 

    6. Place the boots on the seats and install the clips.

      HINT: 

      Make sure that the boots are not twisted.

  7. INSPECT WHEEL ANGLE 
    1. Turn the steering wheel to the left and right full lock positions, and measure the turning angle.

      Standard Wheel Turning Angle (Unloaded Vehicle)

      Inside Wheel Angle Outside Wheel Angle: Reference
      35°36' +1°00'/-2°00'
      (35.60° +1.00°/-2.00°)
      32°35'
      (32.58°)

      If the right and left inside wheel angles differ from the specified range, check the right and left rack end lengths.

  8. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  9. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:
  10. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2015 - 08/2017] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2017 - ] ).

  11. PERFORM YAW RATE AND DECELERATION SENSOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION 
    1. Perform the yaw rate and deceleration sensor zero point calibration (Refer to CALIBRATION [08/2015 - 08/2017] , or refer to CALIBRATION [08/2017 - ] ).
