Removal [02/2017 - 10/2017]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:
    • After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

      Refer to PRECAUTION [02/2017 - 05/2018]

    • Perform the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) registration when replacing the ECM.

      Refer to REGISTRATION [02/2017 - ]

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - STEP 2

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [02/2017 - 10/2017]

  3. REMOVE NO. 2 CYLINDER HEAD COVER 

    See step  1

  4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE 

    See step  3

  5. REMOVE RADIATOR COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - STEP 1

  6. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - STEP 5

  7. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the air cleaner filter element sub-assembly from the air cleaner case sub-assembly.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and air cleaner case sub-assembly from the vehicle.

  8. REMOVE ECM 
    1. Raise the 2 levers while pushing the locks on the levers, and disconnect the 2 ECM connectors.

      NOTE:

      After disconnecting the ECM connectors, make sure that dirt, water or other foreign matter does not contact the connecting parts of the ECM connectors.

    2. Remove the No. 1 relay block cover from the No. 1 engine room relay block.

    3. Disconnect the 3 connectors from the engine room relay block assembly.

    4. Disengage the 2 claws to separate the engine wire from the No. 1 engine room relay block.
    5. Remove the bolt, nut and ECM.

      NOTE:

      If the ECM has been struck or dropped, replace it.

  9. REMOVE NO. 1 ECM BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 2 screws and No. 1 ECM bracket from the ECM.

  10. REMOVE NO. 2 ECM BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 2 screws and No. 2 ECM bracket from the ECM.
