Exhaust System: Removal: Procedure

  1. EXHAUST MANIFOLD REMOVAL NOTE 
    1. Remove the front under cover No. 2.

      Refer to REMOVAL

    2. Remove the windshield wiper arm and blade.

      Refer to REMOVAL

    3. Remove the cowl grille.

      Refer to REMOVAL

    4. Remove the windshield wiper motor.

      Refer to REMOVAL

    5. Remove the cowl panel.

      Refer to REMOVAL

    6. Remove the exhaust manifold.
  2. REMOVE EXHAUST SYSTEM 
    1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

      Refer to REMOVAL

    2. Remove the plug hole plate.

      Refer to REMOVAL

    3. Remove the main silencer.

      Step 1

      *1 Main Silencer *2 Insulator
      *3 Tunnel Member *4 Heated Oxygen Sensor
      *5 TWC - -
      *a Fastener - -
      N*m (kgf*cm, ft.*lbf): Specified torque • Non-reusable part
    4. Remove the insulator.
    5. Remove the tunnel member.
    6. Remove the heated oxygen sensor.

      Refer to REMOVAL

    7. Remove the TWC.
    8. Remove the air fuel ratio sensor.

      Refer to REMOVAL

      *1 Air Fuel Ratio Sensor *2 Exhaust Manifold Insulator
      *3 Exhaust Manifold (WU-TWC) *4 Exhaust Manifold Gasket
      N*m (kgf*cm, ft.*lbf): Specified torque • Non-reusable part
    9. Remove the exhaust manifold insulator.
    10. Remove the exhaust manifold (WU-TWC).

      See step  1

    11. Remove the exhaust manifold gasket.
    12. Remove the exhaust system insulator.

      See step  3

  3. REMOVE EXHAUST SYSTEM INSULATOR 
    1. Remove the insulator (rear).

      *1 Insulator (Rear) *2 Insulator (Middle No. 1)
      *3 Insulator (Middle No. 2) *4 Insulator (Front)
      N*m (kgf*cm, ft.*lbf): Specified torque - -
    2. Remove the insulator (middle No. 1).
    3. Remove the insulator (middle No. 2).
    4. Remove the insulator (front).
