General Maintenance [11/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT VALVE CLEARANCE 
    1. Check the valve clearance (Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [11/2015 - ] ).
  2. REPLACE ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER 
    1. Check the engine oil and oil filter (Refer to REPLACEMENT [11/2015 - ] ).
  3. REPLACE ENGINE COOLANT 
    1. Check the engine coolant (Refer to REPLACEMENT [11/2015 - ] ).
  4. INSPECT SPARK PLUGS 
    1. Check the spark plugs (Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 ).
  5. INSPECT AUXILIARY BATTERY 
    1. Check the auxiliary battery (Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [11/2015 - 06/2017] , or refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [06/2017 - ] ).
  6. INSPECT AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT 
    1. Remove the air filter.
    2. Check that the air cleaner is not excessively dirty.

      If the air cleaner is excessively dirty, replace the air cleaner filter element.

    3. If cleaning the air cleaner filter element, blow compressed air as shown in the illustration to clean it.
    4. Reinstall the air filter.
    5. When an excessive amount of dirt is present, replace the air filter.
  7. INSPECT EXHAUST PIPES AND MOUNTINGS 
    1. Visually check the pipes, hangers and connections for severe corrosion, leaks or damage.
  8. INSPECT FUEL TANK CAP GASKET 
    1. Check the fuel tank gasket (Refer to INSPECTION [11/2015 - ] ).
  9. INSPECT FUEL LINES, CONNECTIONS, FUEL TANK VAPOR VENT SYSTEM HOSES AND FUEL TANK BANDS 
    1. Visually check the fuel lines and hoses for cracks, leaks, loose connections, or deformation.
    2. Check for tank band looseness or deformation.
  10. INSPECT CHARCOAL CANISTER 
    1. Check the charcoal canister (Refer to INSPECTION [11/2015 - ] ).
