Installation [06/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  2. INSTALL STEERING SENSOR 
    1. Align the pins and guides, and engage the claws to install the spiral cable sub-assembly to the steering sensor.

      NOTE:
      • Do not remove the lock pin before the spiral cable sub-assembly is installed to the steering sensor.
      • Do not damage the pins of the spiral cable sub-assembly or guides of the steering sensor.
      • The spiral cable sub-assembly can be rotated up to 30° even when the interlock is engaged. Therefore, make sure that both guides are aligned properly when installing the spiral cable sub-assembly to the steering sensor.
    2. Remove the lock pin from the steering sensor.

  3. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSPECTION [06/2015 - ]

  4. INSTALL SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE:
    • Do not replace the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with the auxiliary battery connected and the power switch on (IG).
    • Do not rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with the auxiliary battery connected and the power switch on (IG).
    • When rotating the steering angle sensor to check the operation of the sensor (checking for abnormal noise, performing diagnostics, etc.), make sure that the front wheels are aligned straight ahead and the steering wheel is installed.
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
      WARNING:
      • Do not begin this procedure within 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
      • If something causes the airbag to deploy, it could result in a serious accident possibly resulting in death.

    3. Set the turn signal switch to the neutral position.
      NOTE:

      If it is not in the neutral position, the turn signal switch pin may snap.

    4. Engage the 3 claws to install the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly.

      Install in this Direction
    5. Connect each connector to the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly.
    6. Connect the airbag connector to the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly.

      *1 Slider
      *a Lock Position
    7. Check that the slider is in the lock position.

      HINT: 

      If the slider is not in the lock position, the airbag connector is not completely connected. Disconnect the airbag connector, check the airbag connector and spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly terminals and connector housings for deformation or foreign matter, and then reconnect the airbag connector.

  5. INSTALL UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  6. INSTALL METER HOOD SPACER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  7. INSTALL LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  8. INSPECT AND ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  9. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [06/2015 - ]
