Steering Angle Sensor: Removal: Removal
Do not remove the steering angle sensor from the spiral cable.
HINT:
The steering angle sensor is a component of the spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly. If the steering angle sensor malfunctions, replace the spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly.
- PRECAUTION WARNING:
Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing. Refer to PRECAUTION
- ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL WARNING:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
NOTE:When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to INITIALIZATION .
- REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 3
- REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 4
- REMOVE STEERING PAD . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 5
- REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 3
- REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 7
- REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 8
- REMOVE SPIRAL WITH SENSOR CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Remove the spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly. Refer to REMOVAL - Step 10
.NOTE:
- Do not replace the spiral cable with the battery connected and the engine switch on (IG).
- Do not rotate the spiral cable with the battery connected and the engine switch on (IG).
- Ensure that the steering wheel is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering angle sensor.
- Do not remove the steering angle sensor from the spiral cable.
- Never use the steering angle sensor detached from spiral cable.
