Mass Air Flow Meter: Inspection: Inspection

  1. INSPECT MASS AIR FLOW METER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Perform a visual check for any foreign matter on the platinum hot wire (heater) of the mass air flow meter sub-assembly shown in the illustration.

      *a Platinum Hot Wire (Heater)

      OK

      There is no foreign matter.

      If the result is not as specified, replace the mass air flow meter sub-assembly.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 (THA) - 2 (E2) -20°C (-4°F) 13.6 to 18.4 kΩ
      1 (THA) - 2 (E2) 20°C (68°F) 2.21 to 2.69 kΩ
      1 (THA) - 2 (E2) 60°C (140°F) 0.49 to 0.67 kΩ

      If the result is not as specified, replace the mass air flow meter sub-assembly.
