Spiral Cable: Installation: Installation
- PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
- Check that the front wheels are facing straight ahead.
- INSTALL SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Set the turn signal switch in neutral position.NOTE:
Make sure of the neutral position since the pin of the turn signal switch may be snapped.
- Engage the 3 claws to install the spiral cable sub-assembly.NOTE:
When replacing the spiral cable sub-assembly with a new one, remove the lock pin before installing the handle.
- Connect the airbag connector and connector.
- Set the turn signal switch in neutral position.
- CENTER SPIRAL CABLE
- Check that the ignition switch is OFF.
- Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative battery terminal.NOTE:
Do not start the operation for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal.
- Turn the cable counterclockwise by hand until it becomes harder to turn.
- Turn the cable clockwise about 2.5 turns to align the marks.

HINT:
The cable will rotate about 2.5 turns both left and right from the center.
- INSTALL UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER
- Engage the claw, then install the upper steering column cover.
- INSTALL LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER
- Engage the 2 claws.
- Install the lower steering column cover with the 2 screws.
- INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 21
- INSTALL STEERING PAD See step 1
- INSTALL NO. 2 LOWER STEERING WHEEL COVER See step 2
- INSTALL NO. 3 LOWER STEERING WHEEL COVER See step 3
- CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf)
- INSPECT HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY
- INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
