Spiral Cable: Installation: Installation
- INSTALL STEERING ANGLE SENSOR (w/ VSC) . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1 .
- INSTALL SPIRAL CABLE
- Check that the front wheels are facing straight ahead.
- Set the turn signal switch to the neutral position.NOTE:
If it is not in the neutral position, the pin of the turn signal switch may snap.
- Install the spiral cable.
NOTE:
When replacing the spiral cable with a new one, remove the lock pin before installing the steering wheel assembly.
- Connect the connectors to the spiral cable.NOTE:
When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
- INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 9 .
- INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER LOWER . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 10 .
- ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE
- Check that the ignition switch is off.
- Check that the battery negative (-) terminal is disconnected.WARNING:
After removing the terminal, wait for at least 90 seconds before starting the operation.
- Rotate the spiral cable counterclockwise slowly by hand until it feels firm.
NOTE:
Do not turn the spiral cable by the airbag wire harness.
- Rotate the spiral cable clockwise approximately 2.5 turns to align the marks.
NOTE:
Do not turn the spiral cable by the airbag wire harness.
HINT:
The spiral cable will rotate approximately 2.5 turns to both the left and right from the center.
- INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 14 .
- INSPECT STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT
- INSTALL STEERING PAD See step 1
- INSTALL STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO. 2 See step 2
- INSTALL STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO. 3 See step 3
- CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
- INSPECT STEERING PAD See step 5
- PERFORM INITIALIZATION
- Perform initialization. Refer to INITIALIZATION

HINT:
Some systems need initialization when disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal.

- INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
- Inspect the SRS warning light. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .
