DTC P0606: ECM / PCM Processor: Procedure

  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
    5. Read DTCs.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      P0606, and P0136, P0137 or P0138 are output A
      P0606 is output B

    B → See step   3 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK DTC (P0136, P0137 OR P0138) 
    1. Check the P0136, P0137 or P0138 flow chart.

      HINT: 

    NEXT → See step   6 

  3. CHECK FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK 
    1. Allow the engine to idle and rev the engine.
    2. Check for exhaust gas leaks around the heated oxygen sensor.

      If any exhaust gas leaks are present, repair them and proceed to step 4 of "Perform Confirmation Driving Pattern" 4. If no exhaust gas leaks are present, proceed to step 4 of "Perform Confirmation Driving Pattern". 4

      HINT: 

      • If no exhaust gas leaks are present, a malfunction in the heated oxygen sensor circuit is suspected.
      • If any exhaust gas leaks are present around the heated oxygen sensor, noise appears in the output voltage of the heated oxygen sensor.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  4. PERFORM CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

    1. Clear DTC. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Start the engine.
    4. Turn the Techstream on.
    5. Warm up the engine until the engine coolant temperature becomes 75° (167°F) or more.
    6. Perform the driving pattern.
      1. Accelerate the vehicle to 80 km/h (50 mph) and stop the vehicle.
      2. Drive the vehicle between 60 and 80 km/h (35 and 50 mph) for 5 minutes.
    7. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
    8. Read DTCs.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC P0606, and P0136, P0137 or P0138 are output A
      Only DTC P0606 is output B
      DTC is not output C

    B → See step   7 

    C → See step   6 

    A: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK DTC (P0136, P0137 OR P0138) 
    1. Check the P0136, P0137 or P0138 flow chart.

      HINT: 

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  6. INSPECT ECM 
    1. Clear the DTC. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    2. Stop the engine and wait for 30 minutes.
    3. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    4. Start the engine and allow it to idle for 2 minutes.
    5. Turn the Techstream on.
    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
    7. Read DTCs.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC P0606 is output A
      DTC is not output B

    B → END 

    A → See step   7 

  7. REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL
