Fuel Pump: Inspection

INSPECT FUEL PUMP
1. Check the resistance of the fuel pump.
  1. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 2.
    Standard resistance: 0.2 to 3.0 Ω at 20°C (68°F)
2. Inspect the operation of the fuel pump.
  1. Connect the positive (+) battery lead to terminal 1 of the connector, and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2. Check that the fuel pump operates.

    NOTE:
    These tests must be performed within 10 seconds of connecting the battery to prevent the coil from burning out.
    
    Keep the fuel pump as far away from the battery as possible.
    
    Turn the voltage on and off on the battery side, not the fuel pump side.
