Fuel Pump: Inspection
- INSPECT FUEL PUMP
- Check the resistance of the fuel pump.
- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 2.
Standard resistance: 0.2 to 3.0 Ω at 20°C (68°F)
- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 2.
- Inspect the operation of the fuel pump.
- Connect the positive (+) battery lead to terminal 1 of the connector, and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2. Check that the fuel pump operates.
NOTE:
- These tests must be performed within 10 seconds of connecting the battery to prevent the coil from burning out.
- Keep the fuel pump as far away from the battery as possible.
- Turn the voltage on and off on the battery side, not the fuel pump side.
- Connect the positive (+) battery lead to terminal 1 of the connector, and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2. Check that the fuel pump operates.
- Check the resistance of the fuel pump.
