If the fuel pump does not operate, replace the fuel pump.

  2. CHECK FUEL PRESSURE
    1. Discharge the fuel pressure system (see FUEL SYSTEM ).
    2. Using a voltmeter, measure the battery voltage.

      Standard:

      10 to 14 V

    3. Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
    4. Disengage the fuel pipe clamp (see FUEL SYSTEM ).
    5. Disconnect the fuel pipe No. 1.
    6. Install SST and the fuel tube connector onto the vehicle.

    7. Wipe off any spilt gasoline.
    8. Connect the cable to the battery negative terminal.

      Torque: 3.9 N*m (40 kgf*cm, 35 in.*lbf)

    9. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    10. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
NOTE: Do not start the engine.

      Standard:

      281 to 287 kPa (2.87 to 2.93 kgf/cm 2  , 40.8 to 41.7 psi)

      • If the fuel pressure is greater than the standard value, replace the fuel pump.
      • If the fuel pressure is less than the standard value, check the connection between the fuel hose and fuel pump.

    14. Enter the following menu:

Select: Data List/Powertrain/Engine and ECT/Active Test/Control the Fuel Pump Speed/OFF.

    15. Check that the fuel pressure does not change for 5 minutes.

      Standard:

      147 kPa (1.5 kgf/cm 2  , 21 psi)

If the result is not as specified, check the fuel pump and fuel injector.
