Seat Heater System: Inspection

  1. INSPECT SEAT HEATER SWITCH LH 
    1. Measure the resistance of the seat heater switch when the switch is operated.

      Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2 - 3 ON (min.) 2.72 to 4.08 Ω
      2 - 3 ON (max.) 0.28 to 0.42 Ω
      3 - 4 ON (min.). Below 1 Ω
      3 - 4 ON (max.) Below 1 Ω
      2 - 3 OFF 10 kΩ or higher
      3 - 4 OFF 10 kΩ or higher

      If the result is not as specified, replace the switch.

      HINT:

      As the dial is being turned, the resistance changes gradually.

    2. Push the seat heater switch ON and check that the seat heater switch indicator illuminates when the switch is operated.

      OK 

      MEASUREMENT CONDITION

      Measurement Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 3
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 1      		 ON Illuminates

      If the result is not as specified, replace the switch.

    3. Check the seat heater switch illumination.

      OK 

      MEASUREMENT CONDITION

      Measurement Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 6
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 5      		 Always Illuminates

      If the result is not as specified, replace the seat heater switch or bulb.

  2. INSPECT SEAT HEATER SWITCH RH 
    1. Measure the resistance of the seat heater switch when the switch is operated.

      Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

    3. Check the seat heater switch illumination.

      If the result is not as specified, replace the seat heater switch or bulb.

  3. INSPECT FRONT SEAT BACK HEATER ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Measure the resistance of the seatback heater.

      Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 20°C (77°F) 0.4 to 1.4 Ω

      If the result is not as specified, replace the seatback heater assembly.

  4. INSPECT FRONT SEAT BACK HEATER ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Measure the resistance of the seatback heater.

      Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 20°C (77°F) 0.4 to 1.4 Ω

      If the result is not as specified, replace the seatback heater assembly.

  5. INSPECT FRONT SEAT CUSHION HEATER ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Measure the resistance of the seat cushion heater.

      Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A1 - B1 20°C (77°F) 0.7 to 1.7 Ω
      A2 - A3 20°C (77°F) 4.5 to 5.5 Ω
      A4 - B2 Always Below 1 Ω

      If the result is not as specified, replace the seat cushion heater assembly.

  6. INSPECT FRONT SEAT CUSHION HEATER ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Measure the resistance of the seat cushion heater.

      Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      A1 - B1 20°C (77°F) 0.7 to 1.7 Ω
      A2 - A3 20°C (77°F) 4.5 to 5.5 Ω
      A4 - B2 Always Below 1 Ω

      If the result is not as specified, replace the seat cushion heater assembly.
