Inspection Procedure

NOTE: When replacing the brake actuator assembly, perform zero point calibration (See CALIBRATION ).
  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Check if a CAN communication system DTC is output (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING ).

    Result 

    RESULT CHART

    Result Proceed to
    DTC is not output. A
    DTC is output. B

    B : REPAIR CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM  (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART )

    A : Go to Next Step 

  2. INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR 
    1. Check if the skid control ECU connector is securely connected.

    OK: The connector is securely connected. 

    NG : CONNECT CONNECTOR TO ECU SECURELY 

    OK : Go to Next Step 

  3. CHECK BATTERY 
    1. Check the battery voltage.

    Standard Voltage: 11 to 14 V 

    Result

    Result Proceed to
    OK A
    NG for 2AR-FE B
    for 2GR-FE C

    B : CHECK OR REPLACE CHARGING SYSTEM OR BATTERY  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )

    C : CHECK OR REPLACE CHARGING SYSTEM OR BATTERY  (See SYSTEM DIAGRAM )

    A : Go to Next Step 

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (AUTO LSD SWITCH) 
    1. Check the Data List for proper functioning of the AUTO LSD switch.

    ABS/VSC/TRAC 

    ABS/VSC/TRAC REFERENCE CHART

    Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
    Auto LSD Switch Traction control switch (VSC OFF switch) / ON or OFF ON: Traction control switch (VSC OFF switch) on
    OFF: Traction control switch (VSC OFF switch) off
    -

    OK: ON (VSC OFF switch is ON) appears on the screen. 

    NG : Go to step  6

    OK : Go to Next Step 

  5. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the combination meter (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING ).

    NG : REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )

    OK : REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )

  6. INSPECT TRACTION CONTROL SWITCH (VSC OFF SWITCH) 
    1. Remove the VSC OFF switch (See VSC OFF SWITCH ).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Resistance 

    TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

    Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
    6 - 9 Switch is not pushed 10 kΩ or higher
    Switch is pushed Below 1 Ω

    NG : REPLACE TRACTION CONTROL SWITCH (VSC OFF SWITCH)

    OK : Go to Next Step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - VSC OFF SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Resistance 

    TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

    Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
    A19-30 (CSW) - E83-9 Always Below 1 Ω
    A19-30 (CSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    E83-6 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK : REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
