Inspection Procedure
NOTE:
When replacing the brake actuator assembly, perform zero point calibration (See
CALIBRATION ).
- CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
- Check if a CAN communication system DTC is output (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )
Result
RESULT CHARTResult Proceed to DTC is not output. A DTC is output. B B : REPAIR CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART )
A : Go to Next Step
- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (DOWNHILL ASSIST CONTROL SWITCH)
- Check the Data List for proper functioning of the downhill assist control switch.
ABS/VSC/TRAC:
ABS/VSC/TRAC REFERENCE CHARTTester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Downhill Assist Control Switch Downhill assist control switch / ON or OFF ON: Downhill assist control switch is on
OFF: Downhill assist control switch is off- OK: ON (downhill assist control switch is on) appears on the screen.
NG : Go to step 5
OK : Go to Next Step
- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (DOWNHILL ASSIST CONTROL INDICATOR LIGHT)
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Start the engine.
- Select the Active Test mode on the Techstream (See DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST ).
ABS/VSC/TRAC:
ABS/VSC/TRAC REFERENCE CHARTTester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note Downhill Assist Control Indicator Light Downhill assist control indicator light Indicator light ON/OFF Observe the combination meter. OK: The downhill assist control indicator light turns ON and OFF.
OK : REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
NG : Go to Next Step
- INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
- Inspect the combination meter (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING ).
NG : REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
OK : REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- INSPECT DOWNHILL ASSIST CONTROL SWITCH
- Remove the downhill assist control switch (See DOWNHILL ASSIST CONTROL SWITCH ).
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition 4 - 1 Switch is pushed Below 1 Ω Switch is not pushed 10 kΩ or higher NG : REPLACE DOWNHILL ASSIST CONTROL SWITCH
OK : Go to Next Step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DOWNHILL ASSIST CONTROL SW - SKID CONTROL ECU/BODY GROUND)
- Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
- Disconnect the downhill assist control switch connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Condition Specified Condition A19-29 (HDCS) - E31-4 Always Below 1 Ω A19-29 (HDCS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher E31-1 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
