System Outline

This is the system to change the power supply mode by pushing the power SW and to start the hybrid system by operating the power SW and brake pedal simultaneously. It also has the ability to hold the electrical key in the key slot and to not release the key from the system unless the power supply and shift position conditions are met. If there is an abnormality in the system, the amber portion of the power SW blinks to warn the driver.

  1. ACC ON Operation

    After the electrical key turns on the half-inserted SW and the deep-inserted SW when inserting it into the key slot, the transponder key computer activates the transponder key amplifier incorporated in the key slot to identify the key ID. After the identification, if power SW is pushed without depressing the brake pedal, the power source control ECU starts. The ECU confirms that the brake pedal is not depressed from signals from the stop light SW and also requests the ID code box for the ID identification result. If the ID identification is normal, the power source control ECU turns on the ACC relay and changes the power SW indicator to green. The power supply is then considered to be ACC ON.

  2. IG ON Operation

    If power SW is pushed without depressing brake pedal when it is ACC ON, the power source control ECU confirms that the brake pedal is not depressed, and then turns on the IG1 and IG2 relays as well it changes the power SW indicator to amber. The power supply is then considered to be IG ON.

  3. Hybrid Start-Up Operation (READY)

    After the electrical key turns on the half-inserted SW and the deep-inserted SW when inserting it into the key slot, the ID code box activates the transponder key amplifier incorporated in the key slot to identify the ID. After the identification, if the power SW is pushed while depressing the brake pedal, the power source control ECU activates. The ECU confirms that the brake pedal is depressed from the signal from the stop light SW and also requests the ID code box for the ID identification result. If the ID identification is normal, the ECU turns on the ACC relay, IG1 relay and IG2 relay, and changes the indicator on the power SW to amber. The power supply is then considered to be IG ON.

    After that, the power source control ECU sends start-up signals to the hybrid vehicle control ECU. The hybrid vehicle control ECU and the ID code box communicate to check for start-up permission. The hybrid vehicle control ECU then starts-up the hybrid system (READY).

    At starting up the hybrid system, the power source control ECU turns off the power SW indicator.

  4. Power Supply Off Operation

    * When the shift range is in P

    If the power SW is pushed while the power supply is READY and the vehicle is stationary, then the power source control ECU confirms that shift position is P, and then turns off the ACC relay, IG1 relay and IG2 relay to change the power supply to OFF. The ECU also turns off the power SW indicator.

    If the power SW is pushed while the power supply is IG ON, without depressing the brake pedal and the vehicle is stationary, then the power source control ECU confirms that shift position is P, and then turns off the ACC relay, IG1 relay and IG2 relay to change the power supply to OFF. The ECU also turns off the power SW indicator.

    If the electrical key is taken from the key slot while the power supply is in ACC ON and the vehicle is stationary, then the power source control ECU puts the power supply into OFF automatically, which turns off the power SW indicator.

    * When shift position is in a position other than P

    If the power SW is pushed when the power supply is IG ON (Including READY) and the vehicle is stationary, the parking lock operation will be carried out. After that, power source control ECU confirms that shift position is P and then turns off ACC relay, IG1 relay and IG2 relay to change the power supply to OFF. The ECU then turns off the power SW indicator.

  5. Key Interlock Operation

    The power source control ECU holds the electrical key in the key slot and will not release it unless the power supply and shift position conditions are met. The power supply condition and shift position during the key interlock operation are as follows;

    * At starting-up hybrid system

    * At power supply at IG ON

    * At power supply at ACC ON and shift position at other than P position

  6. Emergency Stop Operation of Hybrid System

    If the power SW is held on for more than three seconds during driving, the hybrid system stops and the power supply is changed to ACC ON.

  7. Power Supply Resuming Control

    The power source control ECU always stores the power supply condition (OFF, ACC ON, IG ON)

    When the power supply is resumed after shutting off the power supply by disconnecting the battery terminal, the original power supply condition will return due to the power source control ECU.
