Center Airbag Sensor Assembly: Removal

  1. PRECAUTION 
    CAUTION: Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing (See PRECAUTION ).
  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
  3. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle)  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle)  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle)  (See REMOVAL )
  7. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle)  (See REMOVAL )
  8. REMOVE FRONT UPPER CONSOLE BOX  (See REMOVAL )
  9. REMOVE NO. 2 SWITCH HOLE BASE  (See REMOVAL )
  10. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET 
  11. REMOVE FRONT CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (for 2WD)  (See REMOVAL )
  12. REMOVE FRONT CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (for 4WD)  (See REMOVAL )
  13. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX INSERT  (See REMOVAL )
  14. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX INSERT  (See REMOVAL )
  15. REMOVE LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL (for Manual Transaxle)  (See REMOVAL )
  16. REMOVE LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL (for Automatic Transaxle)  (See REMOVAL )
  17. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Instrument Panel Under Cover)  (See REMOVAL )
  18. REMOVE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check that the ignition switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
    3. Disconnect the holder (with connectors).
      NOTE: When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    4. Remove the 3 bolts and center airbag sensor assembly.
