Transmission Control Cable: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  2. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  3. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE FRONT UPPER CONSOLE BOX  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE NO. 2 SWITCH HOLE BASE  (See REMOVAL )
  7. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET 
  8. REMOVE FRONT CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  9. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX INSERT  (See REMOVAL )
  10. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX INSERT  (See REMOVAL )
  11. REMOVE LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL  (See REMOVAL )
  12. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  13. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  14. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE  (See REMOVAL )
  15. REMOVE BATTERY  (See REMOVAL )
  16. REMOVE BATTERY CARRIER  (See REMOVAL )
  17. REMOVE CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  18. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR 
    1. Remove the 3 nuts and front No. 1 floor heat insulator.

  19. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Move the shift lever to N.
    2. Disconnect the end of the transmission control cable assembly from the shift lever assembly.

    3. Pull out the stopper of the transmission control cable.
      NOTE: Do not remove the stopper. If the stopper is removed, reinstall it to its original position.

    4. Rotate the nut counterclockwise approximately 180° and, while holding the nut in that position, disconnect the transmission control cable from the shift lever retainer.
      NOTE: Do not over-rotate the nut as it will come off the internal spring and the transmission control cable will not be reusable.
    5. Remove the nut and disconnect the control cable assembly from the control shaft lever.

    6. Remove the clip and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the control cable bracket.
    7. Disconnect the control cable assembly from the control cable bracket.

    8. Remove the nut and separate the transmission control cable support.

    9. Remove the 2 nuts and separate the transmission control cable assembly.

    10. Pull out the transmission control cable assembly.
