Oil Pump: Removal

  1. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY WITH TRANSAXLE 
  2. HINT:

    (See REMOVAL ).

  3. INSTALL ENGINE STAND  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD  (See REMOVAL )
  5. DISCONNECT FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  7. REMOVE FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  8. REMOVE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  9. REMOVE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  10. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR  (See REMOVAL )
  11. REMOVE MANIFOLD STAY  (See REMOVAL )
  12. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD  (See REMOVAL )
  13. REMOVE VENTILATION HOSE  (See REMOVAL )
  14. REMOVE NO. 3 WATER BY-PASS HOSE  (See REMOVAL )
  15. REMOVE NO. 1 WATER BY-PASS PIPE  (See REMOVAL )
  16. REMOVE WATER BY-PASS HOSE  (See REMOVAL )
  17. REMOVE INLET WATER HOSE  (See REMOVAL )
  18. REMOVE WATER INLET  (See THERMOSTAT )
  19. REMOVE THERMOSTAT  (See REMOVAL )
  20. REMOVE RADIO SETTING CONDENSER  (See REMOVAL )
  21. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See DISASSEMBLY )
  22. SET NO. 1 CYLINDER TO TDC / COMPRESSION  (See REMOVAL )
  23. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY  (See INSTALLATION )
  24. REMOVE NO. 1 CHAIN TENSIONER ASSEMBLY  (See DISASSEMBLY )
  25. REMOVE TIMING CHAIN COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and engine mounting bracket.

    3. Remove the 4 bolts and oil filter bracket.

    5. Remove the 2 O-rings.

    7. Remove the 19 bolts.

    8. Remove the timing chain cover by prying between the timing chain cover and cylinder head or cylinder block with a screwdriver.
      NOTE: Be careful not to damage the contact surfaces of the timing chain cover, cylinder block, and cylinder head.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    9. Remove the 3 O-rings.

    10. Remove the 3 bolts and water pump.

    11. Remove the gasket.

  26. REMOVE TIMING CHAIN COVER OIL SEAL 
    1. Place the timing chain cover on wooden blocks.
    2. Using a screwdriver, pry out the oil seal.
    NOTE: Do not damage the surface of the oil seal press fit hole.

    HINT:

    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  27. REMOVE CHAIN TENSIONER SLIPPER  (See REMOVAL )
  28. REMOVE NO. 1 CHAIN VIBRATION DAMPER  (See REMOVAL )
  29. REMOVE CHAIN SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  30. REMOVE NO. 2 CHAIN VIBRATION DAMPER 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and No. 2 chain vibration damper.

  31. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT TIMING SPROCKET 
    1. Remove the crankshaft timing sprocket.
  32. REMOVE NO. 2 CHAIN SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Temporarily tighten the crank pulley bolt.

    2. Turn the crankshaft 90° clockwise to align the adjusting hole of the oil pump drive shaft sprocket with the groove of the oil pump.
      NOTE: Do not rotate the crankshaft more than 90°. If the crankshaft is rotated too much without the timing chain installed, the valves may hit the pistons and cause damage.
    3. Remove the crank pulley bolt.

    4. Insert a pin punch (3 mm) into the adjusting hole of the oil pump drive shaft sprocket to lock the gear in position, and then remove the nut.

    5. Remove the bolt, chain tensioner plate, and spring.

    6. Remove the crankshaft timing sprocket, oil pump drive shaft gear, and No. 2 chain sub-assembly.
  33. REMOVE NO. 1 CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR PLATE  (See DISASSEMBLY )

  34. REMOVE NO. 2 OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 10 bolts and 2 nuts.

    2. Insert the blade of oil pan seal cutter between the crankcase and oil pan. Cut through the sealer and remove the oil pan.
    NOTE: Be careful not to damage the contact surfaces of the crankcase, chain cover, and oil pan.

  35. REMOVE OIL PUMP ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and oil pump.
