On-Vehicle Inspection

  1. CHECK SHIFT LOCK OPERATION
    1. Move the shift lever to the P position.
    2. Turn the ignition switch off.
    3. Check that the shift lever cannot be moved to any position other than the P position.
    4. Turn the ignition switch on (IG), depress the brake pedal and check that the shift lever can be moved to another position.

If operation cannot be done as specified, inspect the shift lock control ECU sub-assembly.

  2. CHECK SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BUTTON OPERATION
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the shift lock release cover.
    2. When operating the shift lever with the shift lock release button pressed, check that the lever can be moved to any position other than the P position.

If operation cannot be done as specified, check the transmission floor shift assembly installation condition.

  3. CHECK KEY INTERLOCK OPERATION (w/o Smart Key System)
    1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    2. Depress the brake pedal and move the shift lever to any position other than the P position.
    3. Check that the ignition switch cannot be turned to the LOCK position.
    4. Move the shift lever to the P position, turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position and check that the ignition switch can be removed.

If operation cannot be done as specified, inspect the shift lock control ECU sub-assembly.

  4. INSPECT SHIFT LOCK CONTROL ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/o Smart Key System)
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      HINT:

Do not disconnect the shift lock control ECU sub-assembly connector.
